Crews started work on the grind and overlay of 244th St. SW between 56th Ave W and Ballinger Way. This is a joint jurisdiction project with the City of Shoreline (check out the Shoreline Blog!). The work began with milling the surface of the pavement which will be followed by replacing areas of failed pavement. The paving will probably take around 2 weeks to complete. Because the milling of the pavement will remove the vehicle detection loops for the traffic signal at Gateway Place, video cameras for vehicle detection are being installed for that signal. The signal work was completed last week.
As always with grinf and overlay project, drive through the area slowly and watch out for raised utility lids and bumps where pavement transitions.
