Residents of 222nd Street Southwest east of 44th Avenue West will soon be getting relief from the construction that has been a part of their lives for the past six months. The reconstruction of 222nd Street Southwest is nearly complete as crews are beginning the overlay of the street this week.
The city installed a new water main beneath the street surface and improved water services, fire hydrants, drainage, curbs, sidewalks and sidewalk ramps for about a six-block stretch of the neighborhood that includes Bicentennial Park. Improvements at the park that have begun will continue following completion of the street project.
The $800,000 project was funded by a city Community Development Block Grant, Street Construction funds, and stormwater and water funds.
Yay! An overlayment huh. Interesting.
$800.000 for that short stretch of road! Jeez!
