The City of Brier Proposition 1 annexation measure is now passing by a 27-23 vote after vote tabulations were completed for the week of Nov. 12-16. The Snohomish County Election Division reported earlier in the week that 53 ballots were returned, so the four-vote lead for annexation from the total count of 50 ballots looks insurmountable.
The 50 counted ballots represents an 80.65 percent turnout from the proposed annexation area, a higher percentage than the 77.17 percent voter turnout county wide. A total of 62 ballots were issued in the proposed annexation area, a portion of the Atlas voting precinct.
The current tabulation of Proposition 1, if it holds, will result in the annexation of 15.9 acres of the Allview Heights neighborhood between 228th and 231st Streets Southwest, and 24th and 27th Avenues West into the Brier city limits.
The county will continue tabulating ballots on Monday. The election results are scheduled to be certified on Nov. 27.
Here is the current Proposition 1 vote count as of Friday, Nov. 16:
City of Brier Proposition 1? YES 27 (54%)? NO 23 (46%)
