214th & 44th Signal Construction Update

This past Thursday, January 27, 2011, the intersection of 214th & 44th was repaved as part of the ongoing construction of the new traffic signal. The work included grinding off the top 2 inches of the existing pavement, making spot repairs, and paving a layer of new asphalt concrete. New pavement markings, including crosswalks, will be installed once the new pavement has sufficiently cured and the weather is dry and warm enough for them to be applied. Work on the signal system itself has slowed awaiting a mid-February delivery of parts. Once they are received, the signal construction will be completed, followed by the testing of the signal components and operation. Signal turn on is anticipated to occur in the middle of March.

  1. Sure wish they would have repaved 214th Street – it’s like driving cross country every day. The street is busy enough to get its own signal but not busy enough to pave? It can be frustrating watching Mountlake Terrace city officials put in plantings and spend money all over the place, but 214th street is at least 5 years past due on repaving. Maybe we have to wait for the mayor to move there before action is taken!
