2007 MTHS graduate killed by a lion Wednesday

KING 5 reported that a lion killed a Brier woman as she volunteered at the Cat Haven Sanctuary in Central California, according to our online news partner The Seattle Times.

According to the Times, Dianna Hanson, 24, died at the scene of the attack, which happened at the sanctuary in Dunlap, Calif.  just after 12:30 p.m. The news was attributed to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The lion was shot and killed when he wouldn’t let anyone close to Hanson, the Times said.

Hanson’s Linked In profile indicates that she was a 2007 Mountlake Terrace High School graduate who earned a bachelor of science in biology in 2011. Her resume indicated long-term work with wild animals prior to starting her job as a keeper intern at Cathaven in January.
