Work on the roof of Mountlake Terrace High School is progressing on schedule and now has a “substantial completion date” of Aug. 30, reports the Edmonds School District. “There will be no impact to the opening of school,” said district spokesperson DJ Jakala.
Although there are closures to many of the buildings entrances and areas, the high school is open for returning staff and students preparing for the upcoming school year. The football squad has been practicing since Wednesday; students participating in the other fall sports (cross country, boys tennis, and girls volleyball, soccer and swimming) will be on campus for their first turnouts on Monday, Aug. 20.
“We are appreciative of the patience of returning staff, students and families with the minor disruptions this major project caused at times,” Jakala added.
Hawk Walk, the students’ first opportunity to purchase ASB cards, class t-shirts and yearbooks for the 2012-2013 school year, is scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29. Freshman orientation and the Freshman Parent Meeting are set for that evening at 6 p.m.
The first day of classes in the Edmonds School District is Wednesday, Sept. 5.
