The Great Washington Shakeout slated for Thursday


screenshot-802The Great Washington Shakeout, a day dedicated to earthquake drills across the state, is scheduled for 10:20 a.m. on Oct. 20.

Participating groups will learn how to drop, cover and hold on to protect themselves during an earthquake. According to the Great Washington Shakeout’s website, the best thing to do during an earthquake is to get underneath a table or something sturdy to protect yourself from potentially falling debris.

This is what is the procedure participants are encouraged to practice during the shakeout.

It is not too late to register. All interested individuals, neighborhoods and businesses are invited to register by clicking here. Several local groups and businesses are already registered–those registrations can also be confirmed at the link above.
