UPDATE 11:30 AM, 08/31/2009:

MLTnews.com reader Chamos tipped us off that there were some court records pertaining to Sorelli Pizza. It looks as if Sorelli Pizza has been to court 10 times since 2004 for not paying taxes, the most recent in April of 2009. This likely has something to do with the abrupt closure of the restaurant.

We got tipped from @CourtneyCooper (read her post here) on Twitter that Sorelli Pizza had an eviction notice on it’s door on Friday.

I stopped by and sure enough this sign on the door and the doors were locked.

I tried calling Sorelli to find out what the situation was but, not surprisingly, no one answered and their voice mail box was full. The rest of the commercial building that Sorelli is in is empty and for lease and I supposed this will add another available space.

As one reviewer on Yelp put it, “Closed for Good? Sorelli’s has a note on the door from the Sherrif’s office that they have been evicted.  WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?  AHHHHHHHHH”

  1. How can this be? They had excellent pizza, and they always seemed to be busy. If I were the landlord, I'd find a way to work with them, seeing as how they were the ONLY TENANT!

  2. Could be a could things as I see it — They did not charge enough so their margins were very slim. 32oz beers for $4 and enough pizza + salad to feed 8+ people for $25 is cheap.- They were the only tenant in the building. All the others had closed. I bet they are going to redo that area with new building or have a tenant that wants to entire space. They probably were raising rent on them, to get them out of there.- They drank too much of their own beer and forgot to pay rent for a few months. I was in there a few weeks ago, and only had three beers on tap because of the demand. (wait, maybe I should have seen that as a sign they couldn't pay for more beer)

  3. Search the Snohomish County Superior Court records – management seemed to have a problem with paying taxes. Who knows how they were with the rent. I loved the place – I feel sorry for the people who worked there.

  6. Just drove by again and doesn't look like the place has been touched. Eviction notice still on the door. I'll update the post if I hear anything else.

      1. I’ve done a mass of Pizza Man. Anyone who has knows that they have really cut back on their portions and size of Pizza. I understand it but it’s not a real cool statement especially for the loyal long time customers. The new comers won’t have a gauge so it is what it will be. They are great Pizza’s for sure. A large Pizza with lot’s of extras for fewer than 20 bucks usually. DR

  7. Losing a great pizza / beer hangout sucks…especially when we are near the start of Sorellis 'Seahawk Breakfast' season!

      1. When Seattle had a 10AM game they would serve giant plates of eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and biscuits with homemade gravy. Throw in some beers and it was the best way to wake up. Though i’ve only known a few people who could eat the whole breakfast, they were massive!

  10. HUGE Bummer!!!! My favorite place although I did sense problems brewing there. Way too bad. We should all get together as a community…each put some equal amount of money…become vested partners…figure out what went wrong and protect from that ever happening again…find new lease space and get it going agin. I would do that. Dave R

  11. Also…I have a real estate license and can help with hunting for space. On top of that I play guitar and am competing in the “King Of The Blues” contest at Lynnwood Guitar Center. I won the first round so on Sept 10…all six winners duke it out. Who ever wins that goes to the Seattle Guitar Center to compete. Who ever survives that goes to Chicago. Who ever wins that goes to LA for the big one!!! DR

  15. Losing Sorelli's from our neighborhood is like losing an arm! It's a crying shame that it's closed but it sounds like some poor choices were made by the business owners. Sigh…
