Community members gathered Thursday at the newly constructed Sebastian Place in Lynnwood, a 20-unit complex to house formerly homeless veterans.

Each of the 20 units has a bedroom, bathroom and living area with a kitchen. Sebastian Place is a green building, meaning all of the the appliances have Energy Star ratings. The flooring is a luxury vinyl that has the appearance of wood without the upkeep. Two of the units are ADA accessible.

Also at the complex is a central community building, with a larger kitchen and meeting area for meet-ups. This is also the area where VA case workers will be on hand to assist their clients.

All units are empty now, but will each have a table, two chairs, a three-shelf bookshelf and a bedbug-resistant bed before their new residents move in.

“We want to get people started off with the right stuff,” Catholic Housing Services Housing Developer Jenny Weinstein said.

Each room will also have a welcome basket filled with items donated to the new residents.

Weinstein said they expect at least some units to be occupied by Aug. 1, though there is no concrete move-in date at this point.
