Motorists around the Cedar Plaza shopping center in Mountlake Terrace should be noticing a smoother ride now that the paving work on 228th Street Southwest and Cedar Way/44th Avenue West is completed.
The roadways were resurfaced following the installation of new water mains beneath the streets last year. Crews have finished applying an overlay to the road surface and reconfiguring traffic lanes with an additional bicycle lane on 228th Street Southwest between 39th and 44th Avenues and on Cedar Way/44th Avenue West between 227th and 232nd Streets.
Although the roadway resurfacing is done, motorists can still expect some lane closures and delays in the area this week as additional signage is erected and signal work is completed at the 228th Street/44th Avenue West intersection. New rectangular rapid flashing beacons will also be installed at crosswalks at 228th Street Southwest and 42nd Place West, and at 229th Place Southwest and 44th Avenue West. Working hours for these additional projects are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday this week; flaggers will be used to direct traffic when necessary.
