After more than eleven years as Director of the City of Mountlake Terrace Community and Economic Development Department, Shane Hope is stepping down to take a similar position with the City of Edmonds.
With Hope’s move, the City of Mountlake Terrace has lost three department heads and one City Manager to retirement or resignation over the past ten months.
Hope’s final day on the job in Mountlake Terrace will be April 2. “I will miss the people here a lot – the City Council, the Planning Commission, the staff, and many members of the public,” Hope said. “At the same time, I’m looking forward to new challenges and opportunities in the City of Edmonds.”
“But I will never forget my many friends here,” she added.
Hope listed improving city services, streamlining the development process, promoting sustainability and developing a visionary Town Center plan as her most noteworthy efforts while leading the Community and Economic Development Department of the city.
“I am proud of all that has been accomplished here in the last few years and glad to have been part of it,” Hope said.
Former City Manager John Caulfield resigned the top administrative post with the city last August to accept the City Manager job at Lakewood (Pierce County). Earlier this year Will Van Ry retired from the position of Engineering Service Director; Van Ry had been with Mountlake Terrace almost 40 years. On May 31, 2013, Don Sarcletti retired from the city’s Director of Recreation and Parks post; Sarcletti had worked for the City of Mountlake Terrace for 24 years.
