Crews have been working since Oct. 26 to remove hazardous trees from Matt Hirvela/Bicentennial Park in Mountlake Terrace; the work will continue through this week, keeping the park closed to visitors.

“The trees in question are dead or dying and need to be removed for the safety of park patrons,” wrote Interim City Manager Scott Hugill in his Nov. 6 City Manager Report.

Most of the trees that have been removed at the five-acre park, located at 4105-222nd Street SW, were located along the park’s north border.

Work crews are falling trees and stacking the trunks in preparation of the trees' removal from the park.
