Owners of the Red Onion Burgers restaurant have unveiled the name of their new eatery in hopes it will be more palatable to customers than a previously announced naming.
“We are going to call the new place The R. Relishworks Restaurant,” said Seaun Richards, who is hoping to open the new enterprise at 23209-56th Ave. W. in mid-July.
Richards had previously announced the restaurant would be called “Filthy McNastys Gourmet Hot Dog Company,” but pulled the name after feedback from fans and customers.
The new eatery will serve food not offered at Richards’ current restaurant. “The menu will feature gourmet hotdogs, sandwiches, soups, salads, baked potatoes, sidekicks and more,” he said. Richards has also applied for a beer and wine license for the restaurant, which is currently being remodeled with a new interior, paint, deck, landscaping and indoor access to the restrooms.
“After the fire, the one thing I insisted on was indoor plumbing,” Richards joked.
With R. Relishworks Restaurant, Richards is returning to the same building that housed Red Onion Burgers but was damaged by a kitchen fire just after closing on Oct. 1, 2012. The fire forced relocation of the Red Onion to its present location at 44th Avenue West and 212th Street Southwest.
