A (Relatively) Quiet 4th in MLT

Here’s an update from the City on police calls for illegal fireworks around the 4th of July:

The community was relatively quiet over the Fourth of July weekend with regard to fireworks. This can be seen in the number of firework-related calls to Police: On July 3 night-shift officers were dispatched to 10 fireworks-related calls. On July 4, night-shift officers were dispatched to 23 fireworks-related calls.

These results are due in part to our efforts to get the word out via newsletter, web site and press releases that fireworks are illegal in Mountlake Terrace. Additionally, with Public Works crews posted “Fireworks Prohibited” signs at all major roads leading into the City the last week in June.

  1. I really wish fireworks were legal in MLT and Shoreline and other surrounding areas. I grew up with fireworks legal in my neighborhood, as I’m sure many did. It was a good fun time.nnAs for Shoreline, I know my wife tells me they used to go to Paramount Park every year with many, many other families and light off fireworks during the 4th. Seems like they had a lot of fun. Can’t blame ’em.nnIs there enough interest locally to try and persuade city government to consider making fireworks legal once again?

    • I am very happy with the fireworks ban. I feel that I can head over to a friends house a block away and enjoy the evening, or head out to a professional show, and never have to worry about my dogs panicking or my house/car being damaged (again). I enjoy Independence Day once again.
