The public is being invited to submit written comments concerning the latest development plans for two mixed-use buildings being proposed on the site of the former Melody Hill Elementary School in Mountlake Terrace. The city’s Department of Community & Economic Development is accepting comments through April 28.
A Bellevue developer has submitted revised plans for two seven-story buildings to be constructed on the 5.91 acre site at 6205 222nd St. SW. The project calls for 464 studio, one- , two- and three-bedroom apartments on five stories above two stories made up of parking and approximately 70,000 square feet of commercial space in the two buildings.
The site development plans also include vehicle access driveways off of 220th and 222nd Streets Southwest, parking for 775 vehicles, open space on the site’s east side, a pedestrian trail and an outdoor play area. The plans do not show any consideration for a possible Sound Transit light rail station at 220th Street Southwest and I-5.
Devco, Inc. purchased the site from the Edmonds School District in early 2015 for a reported $5 million. The developer’s latest plans for the property are a revision of initial designs that called for 298 residential units and approximately 13,000 square feet of commercial space at the site.
