Shorecrest came into its Friday night matchup with Mountlake Terrace ready to play, scoring the first eight points of the game, 17 in the first quarter and went on to defeat the Hawks 40-23 in a Wesco 3A South girls basketball game at Mountlake Terrace High School.

The victory was Shorecrest’s first in league play while extending Terrace’s current losing streak to 10 games and dropping its record to 0-4 in the league and 1-10 overall.

The Hawks got plenty of good looks at the hoop against the Scots zone defense, but the shots just weren’t falling as the team couldn’t score more than eight points in any quarter. Claire Zucker led Terrace with eight points, Jasmine Zenk scored six and Riley Zucker added six before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks host another winless team in the Wesco League, the 0-4 Meadowdale Mavericks on Wednesday, Jan. 12. Tipoff is set for 7:15 p.m.
