Prep boys basketball: Hawks beat Monroe 66-57 in season opener

MTHSHawks logoWith three seniors scoring in double figures, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks boys basketball team grabbed a win in their opening game of the 2015-2016 season Tuesday, a 66-57 road victory over the Monroe Bearcats.

Derek Anyimah led the Hawks in scoring with 18 points; teammates Shimron Masih and Gabe Altenberger each contributed 15 points in the victory. The Bearcats were paced by the 21 points of junior Trenton Newhouse.

Terrace will next travel to Marysville-Pilchuck on Friday, Dec. 4, for a non-league matchup with the Tomahawks; tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
