Mountlake Terrace’s Jared Maxfield had three hits, including a double, in Tuesday’ 4-3 Hawk win over the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors.

On Tuesday, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks were able to turn a close start into a winning finish.

Terrace grabbed a one-run victory 4-3 over the visiting Edmonds-Woodway Warriors in the first game of a three-game series between the two Wesco League South Conference rivals this week.

Hawk senior Nolan Takeya gave up just two runs on four hits and recorded two strikeouts in five innings to earn the win Tuesday. Teammate Trent Brooks pitched the final two innings to pick up the save.

Down 4-2, the Warriors scored a run in the seventh inning without the benefit of a hit to cut the gap in half, but was unable to push across a tying run in their final at-bat.

Jared Maxfield went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Terrace offense; Carson Dallas contributed a two-run triple in the third inning for the Hawks.

The Hawks had gone 1-6 in one-run or extra inning games this season before Tuesday’s victory.

Terrace and E-W square off in game two of their series on Wednesday, April 6, at Edmonds-Woodway High School. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
