Volunteers, school supplies needed for August back-to-school resource fair

Each August, the Edmonds School District sponsors a Back-to-School Resource Fair, providing students in need with school supplies. This year — thanks to the generosity of the Windermere Foundation and Verdant Health Commission — organizers were able to purchase many supplies in volume and at greatly reduced prices. But the following items are still needed are donations of the following listed items and quantities needed in parentheses (cash donations are also welcome):

– 24-pack Crayola crayons (450)

– plastic pencil boxes (280)

– composition notebooks (750)

– 4-ounce glue bottles (450)

– packages wide markers (280)

– packages thin markers (55)

– ear buds (500)

The school district is expecting to serve 600 students and families during the three-hour event, and needs to recruit 48 volunteers for different time slots and positions. Those interested in helping should contact Carmen Rasmussen, Family Center of Snohomish County, at crasmussen@lcsnw.org or call 425-670-8984, Ext. 22.
