The Mountlake Terrace Senior Center skirted a feared fine from the City for its use of a gravel lot in the 23200 block of 56th Avenue West without the necessary permit last Friday prior to its weekend rummage sale.
“There is no fine, nor any threat of fine from the City,” said Mountlake Terrace City Manager John Caulfield.
Senior Center President Cheryal Heffner had heard the city might levy a fine against the center for setting up rummage sale items and making a few sales on Aug. 24. Instead city officials sent a “courtesy letter” noting the center had began using the lot “ahead of the special event date.”
“Other than that very minor item, the City was very pleased with how the organizers ran their event,” Caulfield added.
