The City just put a bunch of promotional videos on their web site, CityofMLT.com. The videos were created for free by a company out of New York called CGI Communications. The reason the videos were created for free is that CGI Communications plans on selling advertising to local businesses on the same page as the videos.
If you go to CityofMLT.com and watch the videos, it will be obvious that the purpose of the videos is to highlight what the City has to people and businesses that may be considering moving here. It will be interesting to see how effective the ads on the site will be since the targeted demographic of the videos seem to be people who currently don’t live or do business here. The obvious alternative for business interested in advertising would be right here on MLTnews.com. We have readership from people who live here now. People down the street. People who walk and drive by your business every day.
Here is the press relesae from the City about the new videos:
The Community Relations Division has worked with CGI Communications based out of New York to produce a series of online videos for the city’s website (at no cost to the city). There are six video topics including welcome, quality of life, education, real estate/relocation, economic development and recreation & parks.
The company sent out a videographer to capture some of our city sites and events and the video was edited together with still photos of our community. The videos feature the natural beauty and charm of the Mountlake Terrace, coupled with the opportunities available for those who would like to move their business or take up residence here. The real estate/relocation and economic development videos highlight the Town Center Plan, future Civic Campus, and new Transit Center.
A marketing representative from CGI Communications will be contacting Mountlake Terrace businesses regarding advertising opportunities on the site. They are particularly interested in services of interest to people seeking to move to Mountlake Terrace such as medical offices, dentists, daycares, exercise and recreational facilities, banks, hair salons, etc.
The videos are found on the home page at http://www.cityofmlt.com. We also have the opportunity to develop additional online videos to include public service announcements like water conservation, promotion of community events such as Tour de Terrace and National Night out and updates in key partnerships such as the Lake Ballinger/McAleer Creek Forum. Once developed, CGI will simply add a button to our current videos, encode it and run it for a period of time. Those who may be interested in advertising on the site can contact Community Relations Director Virginia Olsen at (425) 744-6206 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
