The Snohomish County Council approved a $50,000 Community Development Block grant earlier this month to fund new playground equipment for Evergreen Playfield in Mountlake Terrace. The City of Mountlake Terrace will begin the process of selecting new park equipment in the next couple of weeks.
“The Park Services Department and Neighborhood Park Improvement Subcommittee will review proposals and recommend a play structure to the Recreation Park Advisory Commission,” said Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch. “If all goes according to plan, the playground equipment could be installed later this year.”
Although the recommended grant award is $35,000 less than the original request, city officials are confident that “a very nice piece of play equipment can be purchased along with soft surface material and boarders.” The Recreation and Parks Department will install the new play equipment with help from volunteers.
