The Mountlake Terrace City Council declared this week a number of city-owned vehicles and one generator as surplus, sealing their fate for sale at auction. The items “have reached the end of their useful service life” with city departments and are slated to be sold or used for trade-in.
The vehicles being disposed of included two 2008 Dodge Chargers, previously used as patrol cars for the Mountlake Terrace Police Department; they each have an estimated value of approximately $5,000. Also being sold will be a 2002 Chevy Blazer, that had been a city pool car; a 2002 Sterling Vactor Truck, used by the public works department to vacuum clean stormwater drains and pipes; and a 1950’s-era Caterpillar D377 Genset diesel generator, used at the Civic Center.
Auction of city government vehicles and equipment is generally done by a third-party private company; no details were released on where or when the current list of City of Mountlake Terrace surplus vehicles may be auctioned off.
