School may be out for the summer, but that doesn’t slow down the efforts of the MTHS Music Boosters.
Tickets are now on sale for the Mountlake Terrace High School Music Department’s summer fundraiser in late August. To purchase tickets, or to get more information, call 425-478-1989 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The second annual “Night in Vienna” event will include performances from the MTHS Jazz 1 band and alumni jazz musicians, a silent auction featuring more than 70 items, light appetizers and a no-host bar. Refreshments will also be available for purchase.
“All proceeds from the evening event will be to help offset the costs of keeping the band program alive and well at MTHS,” said Music Boosters President Sherril Leppich.
Music department expenses during the school year include sheet music, equipment repair, travel costs and various fees for attending the many festivals and clinics that MTHS bands attend, Leppich said. “Costs associated with keeping all music related programs going at MTHS were over $50,000 in the 2012-2013 school year,” she explained.
Bands at Mountlake Terrace High School hope to attend festivals and competitions throughout the country next year, including stops at New York, Savannah and Reno.
The “Night at Vienna” fundraiser is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Woodway Building at Edmonds Community College. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with performances and the silent auction beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.
