For the second year in a row, Mountlake Terrace High School received recognition as a Mix It Up Model School by the Southern Poverty Law Center, signifying the school’s work in embracing respect, inclusiveness and acceptance. Mountlake Terrace High School was one of only 63 schools nationwide to achieve the model school status for 2012-2013.

MTHS Principal Greg Schwab was especially pleased with the school’s achievement for a second time. “This year they increased the requirements for the recognition, so it was an added bonus that we were honored again,” he said.

In other school news, the Edmonds School District as a whole was recently designated as a Best Community for Music Education by the NAAM Foundation. The award recognizes the collaboration between teachers, administrators, students and parents working to keep comprehensive music education as an integral part of the core curriculum.
