THERESA HAS BEEN FOUND. The most recent updates are at the bottom of this story.

On Monday, April, Theresa Haldeman went missing. Theresa is a senior at Mountlake Terrace High School. She was nowhere to be found for over 24 hours.

Theresa Haldeman was found in her home sleeping in a closet Tuesday evening. She appeared disorientated and did not recognize some people, including her boyfriend. Other than this she appeared physically unharmed. She was hospitalized Tuesday night just to confirm she wasn’t hurt. Details about where Theresa was for the 24+ hours have not been released and may still not be known.
While we were updating the story on MLTnews during the day, people were sharing it with friends, family and on Facebook. Over the course of the day the story was viewed over 5,000 times and many people said they were praying for Theresa’s safe return.

Below is the original post as well as updates as new information is revealed.

*****Original Story******

We have few details about this but we thought it better to get this out sooner rather than later. Monday, April 5, around 3:30 pm Theresa Haldeman, a Mountlake Terrace High School senior, went missing. Her car was found near Mountlake Terrace High School, where Theresa last parked it.

Theresa is the girlfriend of Nick Terry, who we have written about before for producing the film “Senior Prom” and volunteering to be the Easter bunny last weekend at the egg hunt.

Nick Terry’s father, Matt Terry, tells us that Theresa’s father and some friends got cryptic text messages but haven’t heard from her since.

Theresa’s friends say that it is not like her to just disappear and not tell anyone.

If you have any information regarding Theresa Haldeman, please call the Mountlake Terrace Police Department at (425) 670-8260 during business hours or 9-1-1 after hours.

THERESA HAS BEEN FOUND. PLEASE SEE THE UPDATES BELOW.

I will update this post as any new information comes in.

UPDATE 10:20 AM

We hear from Nick’s sister that the MLT police are involved now. They have taken Theresa’s car and are working with T-Mobile to try and trace her cell phone. She says that someone said that they may have spotted her at a grocery store last night.

UPDATE 1:00 PM

Authorities have interviewed MTHS students this morning. Her friends and family continue to worry and pray for her safe return. Nothing appeared wrong with her car. More updates will be posted here as we receive them.

UPDATE 5:00 pm

No new information but I wanted to add that they did announce this at Mountlake Terrace High School.

UPDATE 5:40 pm

Two boys from MTHS came forward after the announcement at school and said they found her cell phone in the bushes near Theresa’s car. They admitted to sending the inappropriate text messages from her phone.

UPDATE 7:15 pm

We are just hearing that Theresa has been found. More details forthcoming.

UPDATE 8:30 pm

Theresa is safe but she is being hospitalized at the moment.

UPDATE 10:45 pm

Theresa was found by a friend in her house today sleeping in a crawl space. The crawl space was sort of a closet inside a closet in the guest bedroom. Theresa’s Dad said he had checked the space earlier and that she was not there. The thought is that Theresa came home sometime when nobody was home and went upstairs in to the crawl space. There appeared to be no physical harm to Theresa but when she was found she did not recognize several people, including her boyfriend Nick. It is still unknown as to her whereabouts for the previous 24 hours.

UPDATE 8:00 am, Wednesday

Here is a message from Theresa’s boyfriend, Nick:

I’d like to thank everyone for their continued support and prayers. You guys kept me and all of Theresa’s friends going during these past two days. I can’t express how much your comments and tweets and status updates meant to us.

UPDATE 3:45 pm, Wednesday

They still don’t know exactly what happened to Theresa but here is another update from Nick:

They ran a large number of tests last night and found no physical or real mental issues. They think (as of right now) that it was just stress that eventually caused something to snap. Right now she thinks she’s 15 (she’s actually 18) and doesn’t remember the past 3 years. I’m going over tonight with Amanda (a long time friend of Theresa’s) to see if we can start jogging some memories.

UPDATE Thursday, April 8

Theresa’s boyfriend, Nick, and some friends went over to see Theresa on Wednesday evening. Here is an update from Nick:

It went pretty well I think. She seemed to be in good spirits. She did not recognize me or her friend Amanda. She did, however, recognize one of our other friends who stopped by later. She knew his face but couldn’t really remember who he is or why she’d know him. This is especially weird because she’s known him the shortest out of all of us (having only met him this past year). She can remember up to the summer after her freshmen year of high school, but nothing afterwards. We hope to at some point take her around to places that may jog her memory further, such as people’s houses she’s spent a lot of time at and the MTHS theater (since she’s been a techie since sophomore year). That’s what’s going on right now.

    • From what I understand, her car was parked on 216th St. SW which is definitely in the area of where that guy has been spotted. I hope that he is not involved in any way. Thank you for the information about him.

  1. A registered sex offender has been hanging around in the area of the Albertsons / Arco Gas Station / Stripper Espresso. Several young women have reported his presence, and a general feeling of “Eeeew creepy guy”. One of the young women, (my daughter), knew his name and performed a keyword search at the Sheriff's website. Bingo. I am praying this is not connected in any way. I don't want to publicize his name, as I have no desire to harm an innocent man, but surely someone will find this guy and talk to him. May God bless her and hold her in the palm of his hand until she can be safely returned to her family.

      • They were made aware of the situation about a week ago. And I have a friend in the Sheriff’s department, who I also passed his name along to, just in case.

        • If he is an older man, graying hair with his car piled high with clothes, plastic bags full of stuff and stacks of newspapers, he was hanging out at the Rec. Center after a Thursday night swim.

    • You really need to take that information in to the police station. Super important at a time like this. Family and friends, your in my prayers. So is Theresa.

  7. Theresa, her family and friends have been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard she went missing. If she has been found we are relieved to hear that. We hope that she is safe and well.

  8. I'm so glad to hear she's been found… hope she's going to be ok. Hope that we're not looking at a predatory situation… that's so scary. My mother and father in law lived on 216th for 16+ year, just 1/2 block up from the high school – many high schoolers park on that street…

  17. Maybe she is making it all up, she needed that extra attention. So she was in her own house…. good to know she is found!

  18. I was there when she was found. She was pale and shaking. She was terrified. Her father had checked there that morning and she wasn't there. She was gone all night the night before and came home at some point during the day. She didn't know who I was or where she was. I guarantee she didn't make this up.-Nick Terry

  19. this is truly good news. God bless the family, and I hope they quickly find out what happened. There must be immense relief.

  20. This is really good news! God bless the famly, and Theresa, and may it quickly be discovered all that transpired. Thank you for the updates! I know many were praying…

    • Raylyn, in the future, I reccommend you think before you speak or type. You posted that comment 45 minutes after the main article said she can’t remember anything of the past 3 years-it’s called amnesia and is not explained easily; especially with a flippant comment like yours.

  24. There is something fishy about this, that doesn't just happen. Post the story as soon as it is told. Wouldn't be surprised if shes making the memory part up, as a nurse I see it all the time.

    • … and you need to “diagnose” this here, on a website that Family and friends are clinging to for information and hope? Hope you are a recovery room nurse and your patients are asleep!

      • Matilda makes a good point. Amnesia doesn’t just happen, there has to be something that triggers it. Its just a speculation and doesn’t change the fact that shes been found and is now safe with her family. Hopefully the truth comes out soon.

        • I’ve been researching amnesia and I’ve seen it can often be brought on by stress. For Theresa’s privacy I don’t want to post any specifics, but she definitly had some reasons for her to be stressed out pretty severly. I personally still do not believe she would fake something like this. I’ve known her for years and that is just not something she would do. I appreciate all of your concern and ideas as to what happened and I’ll keep updating as I get information.rnrn-Nick Terry

      • wow Deb G, really mature comments… “hope you are a recovery room nurse and your patients are asleep”… before you remark on matilda’s “diagnosis” why don’t you take into account that she is a nurse and knows more about medicine then you probably do.

    • Matilda, I would think that sensitivity would be an important trait in a nurse. Maybe you have to shut out emotion and just look at facts, but your comment about her faking it is out of line and not productive; it just doesn’t need to be said here. Also, you don’t know the facts, so how could you possibley diagnose? rnrnTo post that comment where those close to her could be hurt is just lacking thought and common sense. I agree 100% with DebG. As for Guest, yes she is a nurse and should know better.rnrn
