“It was a very difficult decision to come to,” the association said in an announcement earlier this week. “We would like to take this time to thank our incredible, hard-working market manager Erin Lane for doing a wonderful job for the past three years. We also would like to thank the local residents who supported the market and the City of Mountlake Terrace.”
According to MLTBA treasurer Danil Semenov, the main issue influencing the decision to close the market was funding. The MLTBA solely financed the market for three years with member dues, and while there was a core group of 200-300 regular customers, the base “did not grow beyond that point,” he said.
The MLTBA plans to allocate funds the had been designated for market operations “toward other business events/projects we can bring to the community,” he said.
