The ordinance will reduce the current 50 percent discount rate for transportation fees to 25 percent, effective Jan. 1, 2016. This will provide time for applicants/developers of projects that are already in the pipeline to submit building permits and pay impact fees under the current rates.
The discount for park fees will remain at 50 percent and is scheduled to go away in 2017.
Mountlake Terrace Mayor Pro Tem Laura Sonmore in supporting the Transportation and Park Impact Fees Ordinance said “I think we have to maintain our transportation infrastructure.”
The Council also unanimously passed the Building/Electrical Code Update Ordinance. This ordinance updates the City’s codes to 2014 national standards. The City has been operating under 2009 codes.
During her report to the Council, Sonmore read a letter from a resident urging the consideration of interim City Manager Scott Hugill to be the permanent City Manager. Hugill was appointed following the resignation of former City Manager Arlene Fisher.
The City Council rescheduled its Oct. 15 work session to Oct. 14 to avoid a scheduling conflict.
Councilmember Bryan Wahl was excused from the meeting.
