Tomorrow Mountlake Terrace Christian Church will be celebrating 50 years in our community.

The church started as a morning Bible study in July of 1959 as an offshoot of Greenwood Christian Church in Seattle. The church started meeting a the American Legion Hall. The 4 and 5 year olds had to meet in the bar. Two years later the church purchased a home at 230th and 58th and began to meet there. In 1966 church members decided to purchase a former Lutheran church at the corner of 56th and 238th (possibly where the mosque is now?) They met at this location until 1977, when they moved to the former St. Mark’s Methodist Church at the current location at 232nd and 53th.

The 50th anniversary celebration will be at 2:30 PM on Sunday, September 13.

The Herald has a more in-depth article on the church. Check it out here.
