The Mountlkae Terrace Business Assocation will hold a barbecue and after hours event from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15 at The Creekside Church, 7011 226th Pl. SW.

Members are working on their most recent project, “Back Packs for Little Hawks.” The project supports children in need who have been forced to move from Everegreen Elementary to Mountlake Terrace Elementary because of a school closure. Association president Don Andrews said his group has committed to provide 100 back packs filled with all needed school supplies.

The cost of a back pack and supplies can be as much as $65.

“This is a large expense for families, especially if they have multiple students,” Andrews said.

Association members encourage residents to drop by and help pack bags, perhaps even make a contribution to offset the expense.
