Chalk up another accomplishment in the young baseball career of Mountlake Terrace’s Aaron Brooks. The 21-year-old right-handed pitcher was named to play in the Northwest League All-Star game on Aug. 6.
Brooks is in his first year at the Class A level of minor league baseball, playing for the Seattle Mariners-affliated Everett Aquasox. He has made 12 game appearances for the Aquasox this season, all in relief. In 17.2 innings pitched Brooks has a 5.40 ERA with 21 strikeouts and seven base-on-balls.
Brooks most likely earned his all-star selection due to a seven-game appearance streak between June 23 and July 11 when the big right-hander had an ERA of 0.00, striking out 11 and picking up two saves.
Brooks and six of his Everett Aquasox teammates will be part of the North Division All-Stars at the NWL the first all-star game since 2004. The game will be played at Everett’s Memorial Stadium and will be part of a full day of activities that include an all-star luncheon, fan fest, autograph session and home run derby.
