The Mountlake Terrace Police Department blotter report for June 11- 17: Officers wrote 97 traffic infractions, gave 76 verbal warnings, responded to four traffic collisions and made nine arrests. The department responded to three residential burglaries, 11 vehicle thefts, two reports of thefts from vehicles, and recovered three stolen vehicles.
At 1:36 p.m., police responded to the 21400 block of 52nd Avenue West for an assault call involving a weapon. An apartment complex resident reported that a bullet had come through his door and went into his wall. The resident believed the bullet came from the apartment next door. Officers and detectives determined that two males in the next door apartment had been playing with a .22 rifle, taking turns shooting rounds into a pillow in a bedroom closet. One of the males then “fiddled with the rifle” and accidentally discharged a round through the apartment and into the adjoining unit, narrowly missing a pregnant woman and the apartment complex resident who had called 911. The two males were arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and reckless endangerment.
