MLT Councilmember Wright earns Certificate of Municipal Leadership
After completing more than 30 hours of training credits from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC), Mountlake Terrace Councilmember Kyoko Matsumoto Wright received a Certificate of Municipal Leadership (CML) from the organization. Wright has served on the council since January, 2008.
Wright is the fourth councilmember to have received Certificates of Municipal Leadership. Councilmember Rick Ryan received a CML in 2010, while Mayor Jerry Smith and Mayor Pro Tem Laura Sonmore were awarded with both the CML and Advanced CML after completing a 60-hour training program.
The CML program is designed to enhance the ability of elected officials in Washington cities with knowledge and skills required for effective governance. To earn the certificate, officials attend a variety of AWC sponsored municipal workshops including sessions on budgeting, land use planning, personnel and leadership.
