MLT City Council challengers file Friday to face incumbents

Mountlake Terrace voters will find three contested races for city council positions on this fall’s general election ballot; two positions find incumbents running unopposed.

Current council member Rick Ryan faces no opposition for his Position 1 seat; Mayor Jerry Smith is unopposed for Council Position 2. Incumbent Doug McCardle is being challenged for his Council Position 3 seat by Stephen Barnes. Wanda Clarke-Morin has filed to run against incumbent Kyoko Matsumoto-Wright for Position 4. Leonard French has signed on to challenge incumbent Bryan Wahl for Position 5.

In Brier, Mayor Bob Colinas is being challenged for his post by Adam Gregorich; the four council members up for re-election face no opposition.

Brier resident Ann McMurray now faces an opponent for her Edmonds School Board position from Dee Bradley of Shoreline.

In Snohomish County Fire District 1 Commissioner races, incumbent Jim Kenny has no challenger for Position 5. Incumbent Karen Dingmon will face Jim McGaughey for Position 4. Incumbent Bob Meador has filed to run for the unexpired two-year term of Position 1 and will face Erica Ash, Michael Anthony Luke and Rob Falla in the August primary election; the top two vote-getters will be placed on the November ballot.

Brier resident Bob Knowles is facing no opposition in his run for re-election to Snohomish County Hospital District 2 Commissioner Position #3. Knowles currently serves as the president of the board more commonly known as the Verdant Health Commission.
