In its annual report to the Mountlake Terrace City Council, the city’s Arts Advisory Commission shared statistics from last year’s 35th Annual Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show and looked ahead to the 2014 edition of the event coming this fall.
The 2013 show attracted 245 artists, 147 entries and more than 500 visitors during its nine-day run. Eighteen pieces of art were sold at the show at a combined total of $3,649.
“It’s growing every year and really puts Mountlake Terrace on the map,” said Arts Advisory Commission chair Judy Ryan.
The commission has already begun planning the 36th annual edition of the show scheduled for Sept. 27 through Oct. 5. The event features a various of art categories, including paintings, prints, drawings, miniatures, photography, three-dimensional and artisan works.
The Arts Advisory Commission mission is to support and promote the cultural arts as a vital element of the community’s quality of life, economic viability and vibrant community identity. Ryan boasted of the board’s efforts in 2013; “We also hosted monthly art exhibits at the Mountlake Terrace Library, free art classes, served as the selection committee for the Manu Sood Scholarship Fund, and participated in community events including Tour de Terrace and National Night Out,” she said.
