The work includes replacing three culverts with bridge crossing in McAleer Creek between Lake Ballinger and Interstate 5 on the Nile Temple Golf Course property at 6601 244th St. SW.
Installation of bridges along with stream bank enhancements will assist with fish passage, provide habitat improvements, reduce in-stream maintenance needs and provide major storm flood mitigation for Lake Ballinger.
Culvert removal and construction of the replacement bridge closest to Lake Ballinger was completed last September. The two remaining culverts are currently being removed. Bridge construction and other enhancements are now underway and expected to be completed this fall.
The Mountlake Terrace City Council and the Lake Ballinger/McAleer Creek Watershed Forum, in which the city is a member, has identified this project as a high priority. Mountlake Terrace Mayor Jerry Smith serves as Chair of the Forum.
New West Development of Everett was awarded the construction contract for $882,387.14. The construction costs are funded from the Stormwater Fund.
