Manu Sood Art Scholarship Awarded

The 2011 Manu Sood Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission Scholarship has awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Mountlake Terrace High School Senior Abby Mitton. The Endowment supports an annual scholarship targeted for arts students.

Abby, who will be attending Pacific Northwest College of Art, located in Portland, Oregon, has contributed greatly to Mountlake Terrace High School as well as her community. “I’m so incredibly grateful and honored to be awarded the Manu Sood scholarship!” Abby remarked. “Art will always have a huge impact on my life and I hope to learn more so that I can help others appreciate art as much as I do,” Abby said.

“We are very pleased to award the second annual scholarship to Abby in honor of Manu and in conjunction with the Arts Commission,” said the Sood Family. “Abby’s enthusiasm, work ethic, appreciation and talent in the field of art are all characteristics of what Manu was all about.”

Manu Sood, who passed away in 2009, cared deeply for family, friends and community. She became a member of the Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission, which complimented her passion for painting. Her husband, Vic Sood, serves on the city’s Planning Commission and her son, Nalin, is a teacher and varsity boys’ basketball coach at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Donations to the Manu Sood Mountlake Terrace Arts Commission Scholarship can be sent to Mountlake Terrace High School, in care of Andi Nofziger-Meadows, at 21801 44th Avenue West, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
