The Mallory Building, located at 24113 56th Ave. W., opened up to the public Friday night for an open house event.
The building was purchased by Landsverk Quality Homes and Sound Structural Solutions in June 2015. Construction on the site finished up in June 2016.
The building, formerly a warehouse, has been converted into part office space and part warehouse. From the outside, the building looks completely different. A second-story loft area was also added.
Deanna Landsverk, one of the new owners of the building, said her company Landsverk Quality Homes had done some work in Mountlake Terrace before she decided to put a bid in on the building.
“We loved working in the city,” she said. “We just loved the history (here) and we think Mountlake Terrace has a fantastic vision in their Main Street project.”
Landsverk said she was mainly inspired to purchase the building when she saw the barrel-roll trusses inside the building. Their design exposed the trusses, giving the rounded look to the building from the outside.
Other personal details are also visible inside the building. For example, all of metal work inside the building, such as all of the the floor boards, was created by Landsverk’s 21-year-old son Erik.
Landsverk said the open house on Friday, Dec. 2 was their way of giving back to the community. She said she has had community members randomly drop in to see the building now that the work is complete, so she wanted to give them a chance to see it.
She also accepted donations to benefit the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation’s sponsorship of Shop with a Cop, which provides Christmas gifts to local families in need.
