A couple of significant items appear on the agenda for Monday night’s City Council meeting.
Council will discuss and vote on whether to add a $0.44 levy lid lift to the August 2 primary ballot. Previous versions of the levy lid lift were as high as $0.67, but after a discussion on Thursday, April 28, the council decided to pursue a $0.44 levy lid lift, which would pay for rent at the Interim City Hall and help fund parks and recreation.
If the measure is approved, the levy lid lift will go to Mountlake Terrace voters on August 2, which allows the city to know if it passes before drafting the next budget.
Also on Monday night, the City Council will discuss a measure that will allow the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the Cheeseburger Babies Foundation to host an Independence Day Celebration, including a fireworks show, at Ballinger Park on Sunday, July 3, the night before Independence Day.
The Mountlake Terrace Police Department will also give its report on calls received during the first quarter of 2016.
The full agenda for Monday night’s meeting can be found here. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Interim City Hall, located at 6100 219th St. SW., 2nd Floor.
Before that meeting, the City Council will host a special meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the search for a new city manager. Most of that meeting will be held in a private, executive session, but at the end of that meeting, council expects to publicly announce a number of semi-finalists and who those semi-finalists are.
The full agenda for the special meeting can be found here. That meeting will also be inside the Interim City Hall.
