Letter: MLT City Council needs to understand economics outside council chambers

Dear Editor:

If all it takes is for five people to ask council to keep trying the same idea over and over, what would happen if 15 people asked them to stop?  I’m pretty sure the response would be the same. They will look at other options just so they can say they did, but this council and particularly its leadership wants what it wants whatever voters think or whatever is going on the the economy. They don’t need outside cheerleaders; we have a council full of them.

Just so we know that the council understands economics outside council chambers, at their Special Meeting could staff once again explain how that economy is impacting revenue expectations for MLT and also how nearby cities have been responding to our long economic doldrums. At least revisit the Mltnews.com interview with our city manager from June, 2012 as well as the 2011-12 budget and the financial forecast which accompanied it.

  1. Len, what outcome would be satisfactory to you, recognizing that city government must be housed somewhere at some cost?
