HomeStreet Bank gave Clothes for Kids, an organization that helps local families in need by providing clothes for children to wear to school free of charge for qualifying families, a $5,000 donation on Thursday afternoon.

Thursday’s donation is one of many grants given to the organization by HomeStreet Bank over several years — including Thursday’s donation, HomeStreet has given Clothes for Kids $20,000 total since December 2011.

Marilla Sargent, branch manager of HomeStreet Bank located at 22001 66th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace, and Carrie Bendiksen, HomeStreet customer service supervisor, presented the check to Joy Ingram, executive director of Clothes for Kids. Bendiksen also serves on Clothes for Kids’ Board of Directors.

Ingram said the donation will help fund an upcoming event on May 7, the  “Celebrate The Children” Dessert and Wine Auction.

“Through this sponsorship, we are able to make sure 100 percent of proceeds from the auction will go towards our programs,” Ingram said.
