my newsThe National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning in effect for the Puget Sound Region until 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29.

Winds are increasing from the south at 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph. Locations expected to be affected include Seattle, Everett, Tacoma and Bellevue.

The strongest winds are likely to occur between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Winds typically this strong occur during the fall and winter. This wind event could create more problems due to deciduous trees still having their leaves. These factors could increase the risk for downed trees and branches. There also could be local power outages.

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or is occurring.
