The Lynnwood Police Department is warning Lynnwood residents about a molestation attempt at an outdoor basketball court near Beverly Elementary School, located at 5521 168th St. S.W.
According to Deputy Chief Jim Nelson, a report was filed at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 regarding an adult man attempting to kiss a 13-year-old boy. Police spoke to the victim and his mother and learned that the boy was playing basketball between 7 and 9 p.m. The boy saw the man in his 20s watching. The man left, but returned when the boy was separated from his friends.
The victim told officers the man approached him and talked to him briefly before he grabbed the boy’s hand and attempted to kiss him. The boy stopped him and the man then tried to get the boy’s phone number. The boy shouted for his friend and the man left.
The suspect is described as a muscular Asian male in his 20s who appeared to speak limited English. The suspect is associated with a gray bicycle. The Lynnwood Police Department is not aware of any similar incidents.
