A Puyallup partnership is hoping to break ground on a new private development consisting of ground-floor commercial space with 96 residential units above early in 2013 in the 5400 block of 244th Street Southwest in Mountlake Terrace.

The Mountlake Senior Living Apartments will consist of one four-story building facing 244th Street Southwest and one five-story building in the back of the 37,500-square-foot lot, according to preliminary drawings from Morgan Design Group, the architect for the project.

Designs show the development using the entire L-shaped lot located in between Young’s Mobile Home Park at 24222-54th Ave. W. and E-Z Corner Mart at 244th Street Southwest and 56th Avenue West. The lot has been vacant for a number of years following the closure of a seasonal fruit stand that was located there.

No timetable for construction has been released. Upon completion, the complex will be managed by Senior Housing Assistance Group (SHAG), said Sarah Goulakos, an associate at Morgan Design Group. SHAG manages 28 apartment communities for low- and moderate-income seniors in the Puget Sound area.
