As opposing teams have concentrated their defensive efforts on junior Samantha Romanowski, others on the Mountlake Terrace girls basketball team have had to step up their scoring efforts. That happened Wednesday night as Hawks Nikkie Froehlich and Shaian Pagaling each scored in double figures and Terrace slipped past the Glacier Peak Grizzlies 50-48 at Glacier Peak High School.
Froehlich dropped in 15 points and Pagaling scored 10 in the Hawks’ road victory. Glacier Peak was led in scoring by Taylor Baird and Sadie Mensing, each scoring 12 for the Grizzlies.
The win put Terrace in first place in the tough Wesco 3A South Conference with a 3-1 league record, 8-3 overall.
The Hawks begin the second half of their season on Friday with a home game against the Oak Harbor Wildcats. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
