A group of more than a dozen volunteers filled backpacks with supplies for local children in need during an event organized by the Mountlake Terrace Business Association.
A total of 244 backpacks for kids between first and sixth grade were filled with necessary supplies, such as pencils, erasers, folders, paper, crayons and glue sticks, among other supplies.
The Mountlake Terrace Business Association raised nearly $1,000 toward the effort. Most of that money came from the association’s funds and business members of the association.
The backpacks will be distributed to Mountlake Terrace, Cedar Way and Terrace Park elementary schools.
