The Mountlake Terrace Third of July Celebration was a huge hit with local families, with a crowd of hundreds packing into Ballinger Park and others lining up on Lakeview Drive.

The celebration began with local music by swing band Swingy, from the Calvary Fellowship in Mountlake Terrace. Groups danced their hearts out on the dance floor while others watched, ate hot dogs and created arts and crafts.

The competition was fierce during the gunnysack race and pie eating contest. Other games included hula hooping and “Shake it Out,” where kids had to shake their hips to get ping pong balls out of a tissue box strapped to their waist.

Later in the evening was the moment the crowd was waiting for. Just after 10 p.m., the fireworks show began with a singing of the national anthem. The show dazzled the audience before everyone battled the traffic home.
