A group of about 20 friends, family and community members gathered on a rainy Sunday evening on the fishing pier at Lake Ballinger to remember 24-year-old Sylvio Kasongo, of Edmonds.
Those gathered shared stories about Kasongo’s big smile and uplifting attitude, whether they knew him well or just in passing. A memorial of photos and flowers was erected and lit with electric candles, so they would remain lit in the rain. Those in attendance also threw flowers into Lake Ballinger to honor Kosongo.
Kasongo’s body was found in Lake Ballinger on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
