Fire District 1 fire calls, Jan. 31-Feb. 5

Fire District 1Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 374 calls the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5: 297 emergency medical aid calls, 20 motor vehicle collisions, 21 fires, 10 service calls and 26 automatic fire alarms.

Jan. 31
COLLISION: At 5:03 p.m., a three-car collision was reported at 196th Street Southwest and Filbert Road east of Lynnwood. Two people were injured and transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Feb. 2
COLLISION: At 2:11 a.m., firefighters responded to a car that went off an embankment in the 9100 block of 196th Street Southwest in Edmonds. One person was injured and was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Feb. 3
HOUSE FIRE: At 11:39 p.m., firefighters responded to a fire at a house in the 4800 block of 164th Street Southwest north of Lynnwood. Smoke alarms alerted the residents to the fire. The couple safely exited with their three dogs. The fire was contained to the garage, but smoke spread throughout the home and damage was estimated at $130,000. The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was started by an overheated electrical cord on a space heater left on overnight to prevent drywall equipment from freezing.

SHED FIRE: At 4:10 p.m., firefighters extinguished a fire in a shed at a church in the 11200 block of 4th Avenue West south of Everett. No one was injured.

Feb. 4
HOUSE FIRE: At 11:39 a.m., a house fire was reported in the 12700 block of 15th Avenue West south of Everett. Heavy smoke filled the third floor. A small fire was located in an upstairs bathroom and extinguished by firefighters. No one was injured.

Feb. 5
COLLISION: At 3:42 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a collision on northbound I-5 north of 196th Street Southwest in Lynnwood.

COLLISION: At 5:48 p.m., a bicyclist slipped and crashed on icy pavement at 164th Street Southwest and Ash Way north of Lynnwood. The injured bicyclist was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
