Fire District 1 fire calls, Feb. 13-19

Fire District 1Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 402 calls the week of Feb. 13-19: 317 emergency medical aid calls, 32 motor vehicle collisions, 16 fires, 14 service calls, one natural gas leak and 22 automatic fire alarms.

Feb. 13
COLLISION: At 6:45 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a car in the 2700 block of 116th Street SE south of Everett. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported by firefighters to Harborview Medical Center.
KITCHEN FIRE: At 5:08 p.m., firefighters extinguished a small kitchen fire at a duplex in the 19900 block of Filbert Road in Lynnwood. A deputy kicked through the door and pulled the resident from the smoke-filled duplex before firefighters arrived. The resident was transported by firefighters to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital; his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Feb. 15
COLLISION: At 2:02 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a collision at 164th Street SW and 22nd Avenue W north of Lynnwood.

Feb. 16
COLLISION: At 1:36 p.m., firefighters responded to a collision at Ash Way and Maple Road near Lynnwood and transported four patients to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
FATAL COLLISION AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS RESPONSE: At 11:16 p.m., a tanker truck carrying liquid nitrogen rolled and came to rest on its side on top of a car in the northbound lanes of I-5 in the Mountlake Terrace area. The driver of the car died at the scene. The freeway was closed for several hours as firefighters stood by while the liquid nitrogen was off-loaded from the tanker so it could be safely removed by a tow truck.

Feb. 17
COLLISION: At 12:58 p.m., a three-car collision was reported at 164th Street SW and 36th Avenue W north of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported three patients to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

Feb. 18
COLLISION: At 4:52 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a two-car, rear-end collision in the 22200 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds.

Feb. 19
COLLISION: At 8:42 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a three-car collision at 128th Street SW and 8th Avenue W south of Everett.
